Six Hornets Honored on All-ODAC Field Hockey Team
Two Named to All-South Region Team

           SALEM, VASix Lynchburg College players were honored recently with the release of the 2007 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Field Hockey team and two players were named to the All-South Region squad.

           Senior attack Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson), sophomore midfielder Signey Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester), and sophomore attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) were named first-team All-ODAC.  Allie Weir led the ODAC and nation in goals with 35 as well as leading the ODAC in points (80) and assists (10).  Howard finished second in the ODAC in assists (9), along with fourth in the ODAC in points (33) and fifth in goals (12). Milks played in 17 games and started 16, contributing with one goal and three assists along with outstanding work on the defensive end of the field. Howard and Allie Weir were also named to the second-team All-South Region squad.

                   Senior attack Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) and freshman midfielder Jenny Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) were honored on the second-team All-ODAC squad while sophomore midfielder Erin Majerowicz (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) was named as an honorable mention. Bowman was third in the ODAC in points (36), fourth in goals (14), and third in assists (8). Jenny Weir was seventh in the ODAC in points (22) and goals (7) and finished third in assists (8).  Majerowicz played and started in all 23 games, scoring one goal and proving to be one of the more valuable defenders in the conference.

           Washington & Lee University’s Kendall Korte was voted the Player of the Year while Brenda Bechler from Eastern Mennonite University was the Coach of the Year.  Washington & Lee’s Emily Matthews was honored as Rookie of the Year and Eastern Mennonite’s Kristina Landis was named Scholar-Athlete of the year.
