Lebanon Valley Field Hockey Rallies for 2-1 Win over Lynchburg
Advance to Elite Eight

ANNVILLE, PA – Sarah Bevans scored midway through the second half to give the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team a come-from-behind 2-1 win Saturday over Lynchburg College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. LVC now advances into the Eight Eight, and will play again Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Regional Final for the right to play in the Final Four.

Sophomore Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) put the Hornets ahead 1-0 at the 34:32 mark of the first half with an unassisted goal off of a rebound. Lynchburg, ranked #16 in the latest Division III National coaches Poll, held the 1-0 lead into intermission and the first five minutes of the second half. But fourth-ranked Lebanon Valley tied the game at 40:43 as Lauren Seidenstricke fed Shauna Enck off a corner to knot the score at one each. Sarah Bevans took a pass from Alex Wolfe at 49:07 and found the back of the cage to give LVC a one-goal lead. The Hornets had two penalty corners in the closing minutes to attempt to force overtime, including one in the final minute, but a shot with 28 seconds left sailed wide and the hosts held on for the win.

Lynchburg (19-5) held an 8-7 edge in penalty corners and each team fired 12 shots. Sarah Cates made four stops for LC and Caitlin Baro made four saves for Lebanon Valley (20-1)
