What's Important To You?
Ask yourself some of these questions:

- Do I want to work on something I believe in?
- Do I want to explore something new?
- Do I want a real break from my academics?
- Do I want to help make things happen?
- How much time do I have for an organization?
- Are there any financial considerations?

How To Get More Information
Talk to other students who are involved on campus, meet people in your classes or residence hall and ask them what they are involved in. You can also visit the Office of Student Activities in the Terrace level of Hundley Hall, or call X 8254. Additionally you can attend Club Fair Day, traditionally held in early September. This can give you a good idea of what the clubs are about by visiting the different booths and talking with the organizational representatives.
Some other places to look are:
- Professors
- Bulletin Boards
- SGA
- SAB
- Fraternity/Sorority Life
Taking The Plunge!
Often, members of organizations are far more nervous about recruiting you than you may be joining them. They want new members and are very eager to answer your questions and explain their activities and purposes.
Many groups have informational meetings at the beginning of each semester. These are open to any interested student. You are in no way obligated to join the group if you attend. These meetings serve as a chance for you to get more information and for the group to learn of your interest. You can find out about these meetings by attending Club Fair Day, asking a student member of the group, or watching the bulletin boards for meeting postings.
Once you've joined an organization, don't just sit back and wait for something to happen. Introduce yourself to people, ask questions, express ideas, and be sure to volunteer your time and energy. You won't feel like a member of a group until you're a contributing member!
