NCAA DIII Field Hockey and Women’s Soccer Brackets Released

NCAA DIII Field Hockey and Women’s Soccer Brackets Released

         LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College field hockey team will host a home game while the women’s soccer team will take to the road this week as the NCAA released its 2007 Championship Tournament brackets.

         The Hornet field hockey squad will host Centre College (KY) Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the 24-team Division III Championship Tournament. Lynchburg (18-4) defeated EasternMennoniteUniversity 1-0 Saturday to win the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship tournament and the conference’s automatic bid. Centre (13-4) earned an at-large bid after dropping a semi-final match in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament to DePauwUniversity. The Lynchburg/Centre winner travel to LebanonValleyCollege to play LVC at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

         The Lynchburg women’s soccer team (17-3-2) travels to Salem, VA to Roanoke College this weekend for the first and second rounds. The Hornets are scheduled to face Maryville College (TN) Friday or Saturday at a time to be determined, with the winner taking on the Roanoke/Methodist University (NC) winner on Saturday or Sunday. LC won the ODAC Tournament Championship game Saturday at Roanoke to earned the conference’s automatic berth. The Maryville Scots (17-4-1) won the Great South Championship Tournament, defeating Spelman 3-0 on Saturday in the title game.
