Summers-Clopper Curriculum LabThe Summers-Clopper Curriculum Lab is located on the second floor of the Library. As a teaching resource center it serves primarily students and faculty in the School of Education. It contains a wide variety of instructional materials for evaluation and utilization in the implementation of instructional plans for elementary and secondary education. While some materials are appropriate for preschool through high school, most items are suitable for use in K-8. These materials include: Children's literature - classics, award winners, poetry, folklore, picture books, big books Non-fiction books to support the school curriculum Textbooks and teacher's editions Activity books, lesson plan books, bulletin board and pattern books, book bags, file folder games, and other manipulatives to be used with students The lab is open and staffed by student assistants approximately 30 hours per week. At other times it is available for use by anyone with a Lynchburg College ID. Faculty may schedule orientation sessions in the Lab. Lab materials may be checked out by students, faculty, and staff. Services for Faculty Spouses and DependentsSpouses and dependents of faculty members may use the resources of the Library and may check out materials with an I.D. card obtained through the Personnel Office. The circulation loan period for books is 28 days. The loan period is 7 days for videos and 14 days for compact discs. All materials should be returned and/or renewed at the end of each semester. The library online catalog system will prohibit the loan of materials to delinquent borrowers. Faculty/staff spouses and dependents are not assessed fines but will be billed the replacement cost of materials 365 days past due. Electronic databases purchased by Lynchburg College that do not require a password are available for use by faculty/staff spouses and dependents and the general public. On databases which are password protected, employee spouses and dependents may be accommodated by use of the employee I.D. number. In addition, faculty/staff spouses and dependents may access the World Wide Web for research purposes. LC students engaged in course work have priority use of all library public area personal computers and databases. Services for Retired FacultyA College I.D. card may be obtained by applying through the Personnel and Security Offices. This I.D. card will serve as a library card. The loan period for books is 28 days with renewal privileges. Other materials follow the regular loan period. Interlibrary Loan privileges are available with faculty bearing the cost of any charges. The fax machine may be used for research purposes only, with the retired faculty member paying for the cost of transmission. Photocopy machines are available at $.05 per copy if charged to a department and $.10 per copy for personal use, payable in cash or check at the time. Visitor ServicesThe Library is open to visitors on a space available basis. Electronic databases purchased by Lynchburg College that do not require a password are available for use by faculty/staff spouses and dependents, and the general public. General ServicesPhotocopy MachinesSelf-service coin-operated photocopying machines are available in the Library. Work done for recognized organization and school accounts is $.05 per copy and must be signed for at the Circulation Desk. Personal copies are $.10 per copy. Library machines may be used for runs up to 50 copies. Please use the Print Shop for longer runs at less cost. Microforms Reader/PrintersThere are several self-service microfilm and microfiche reader/printers available in the Microforms Room. Photocopies made at these machines cost $.10 per copy for personal copies and $.05 for school accounts. A copy by-pass key is available for sign-out at the Circulation Desk. Printing from Library PCsPrinting from Library PCs is free. Printouts may be picked up at the Circulation Desk . Telefax MachineThe use of this machine by faculty and staff is restricted to official College business. For program billing purposes, a form must be completed before sending. Please do not release the fax number for personal matters or for student use. Faculty, staff and students may also receive and transmit through the fax machine in the Personnel Office. MiscellaneousThe Library provides a laminating service for paper documents at a nominal cost based on the size of the item.
