Hornet Volleyball Defeats Guilford on Senior Night

             LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated visiting Guilford College 30-10, 30-20, 28-30, 25-30, 15-9 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match Tuesday evening. It is the Hornets last home match of the 2007 season and LC’s three seniors were honored before the game.

Senior Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) posted 50 assists and nine digs in the victory, while fellow senior Katie Warlick (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) had 15 kills and 11 digs. The third senior, Amanda Walsh (Forest, VA/Heritage), broke her own school record with 11 service aces, and added six kills and three blocks. Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) ripped 15 kills, Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk) added 10 kills and Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) and Jasmine Murphy (Shipman, VA/Nelson County) each had 10 digs.

             The eight-team ODAC Tournament begins Friday at Hollins University, with fifth-seeded Lynchburg (19-7/6-4 ODAC) set to battle #4 Roanoke College at 5 p.m. The semifinals and finals are slated for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
