Celebrate the New Year in Rome, the Eternal City. You’ll be on visual sensory overload as you experience firsthand some of the greatest art and architecture the world has ever produced. On this program, students explore how cemeteries, palaces, and churches, and in fact, how a city can become a museum.

*Participation in this program will fulfill the Fine Arts General Education Requirement.

Explore one of the most fascinating countries in Asia. This program is designed to introduce students to Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage, while experiencing hands-on the reality of present-day Vietnam through lectures, visits, and interaction with the Vietnamese people. Particular attention will be given to the American war and its impact on contemporary culture, especially literature.

Dive into the ecology of the West Indian Coral reef ecosystem. Students will
learn to identify the reef species and will study the life history, ecology, and
behavior of these organisms. The program will largely take place on
San Salvador with some visits to nearby islands and reefs.
(Requirement: BIOL 111 or ENVS 101)

Spain and Morocco (INTL 377N)

Examine the influence of Moorish culture on the south of Spain through historical and contemporary contexts. Students will explore cities such as Seville and Granada in southern Spain before taking the ferry to Morocco to take in the sights and culture of Marrakech and Casablanca. (Alternative spring break course requires spring semester registration in INTL 377U)

Explore the beautiful Mexican city of Guanajuato while engaging in travel writing and/or Spanish language studies. Situated in the mountains, Guanajuato’s picturesque setting and Old World charm will inspire students with their travelogues. Students will also have the opportunity to complete their foreign language requirement through coursework at an accredited language school in Guanajuato.

Make a difference and interact with the local culture by participating in an international service learning experience. Each activity is targeted to the student’s major program. Students also have the opportunity to explore this tropical island
as they work jointly with St. Lucians during the service learning activity.

Learn about Irish literature, history, and culture in the context of the wide-ranging changes wrought by Ireland's rapid economic growth over the last 25 years. Experience Ireland's dramatic contrasts as we explore sites megalithic to contemporary, rural to urban, from Dublin to Donegal to Galway and including Northern Ireland (UK)-- Belfast, Derry, and the Giants Causeway. From "Emerald Isle" to "Celtic Tiger," we will consider what has been gained and what may be lost forever.

Experience a new culture and way of life with a visit to LC’s sister school in Daejeon, South Korea. Classes focus on Korean language and culture while students explore Buddhist temples and taste Korean cuisine. Cultural activities include pottery-making, karaoke night, and a two-day excursion to Seoul, the South Korean capital. Students can earn transfer credit from Hannam University; tuition is covered by our exchange agreement.
