LC Advances to Face W&L in ODAC Tournament Semifinals

            LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored four times in the first 22 minutes of the contest to lead the Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 7-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Quarterfinal action.

 

            Allie Weir scored the first time 6:14 into the contest, and Signey Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) assisted on her second tally four minutes later. Allie Weir scored back-to-back goals from her sister, Jenny Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) at 16:18 and 21:38 to end her scoring for the night. Shannon Kennedy (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park), Cassie Westman (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s) and Carter Maxey (Midlothian, VA/James River) each also had goals, while Katie Brennan (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) notched an assist.

 

            Kieara Mowery made seven saves in 45 minutes for Virginia Wesleyan. The Marlins end the season with an overall record of 4-12.

 

The win puts the second-seeded Hornets into a semi-final match-up against #3 Washington & Lee University. The game will be held on LC’s Shellenberger Field Wednesday, at a time to be determined.
