LC Women Defeat Guilford 2-0 in the ODAC Tournament Quarters

             LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women’s soccer team prevailed over the visiting Guilford College Quakers 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) quarterfinals.

            The Quakers battled the Hornets throughout the first-half, sending the game into intermission knotted at a 0-0 tie despite being outshot 9-0 in the half. Lynchburg would put the first goal on the board in the 52nd minute as Betsy Kwiatkowsi (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) fed Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon).  Kwiatkowski added her second assist of the day in the 56th minute, sending the ball to Audrea Hamby for the insurance goal.

            Freshman goalies Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) and Anna Wright (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) split the time in the net for Lynchburg, with Wright tallying two saves.  Amber Stapler recorded nine saves in the goal for the Quakers (7-12/7-4 ODAC).

             The Hornets (15-3-2/8-2-1) will face the winner of the #1 Virginia Wesleyan College vs. #8 Bridgewater College match on Wednesday at a time and place to be determined.
