             LEXINGTON, VA – The Lynchburg men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished third Saturday at the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships, hosted by Washington & Lee University.

             Sophomore Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) won the men’s 8K race in 27:23, more than 33 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. Flynn was named the ODAC Men’s Runner of the Year, while Washington & Lee took the team title and Bridgewater was close behind in second. Jeremy Falke (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) earned first-team all-conference honors with a seventh-place finish in 28:37. Richard Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) was 16th in 29:53, Pat Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) placed 23rd in 30:17, and Brian Clapp (Smithfield, VA/Denbigh Baptist) and Benjamin Kulp (Amherst, MA/Amherst Regional) finished in 24th and 30th, respectively. 

Freshman Jennie Pernisi (Campden, NY/APW) finished fourth in the women’s 6K race in 24:32 to earn first-team All-ODAC honors and Rookie of the Year accolades. Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) recorded an eight-place finish in 25:17 to land a spot on the all-conference second-team, while Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) was 16th in 25:59. Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) crossed the finish line in 21st in 26:36, Stephanie Searing (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) placed 25th and Megan Donnelly (McLean, VA/McLean) was 26th. The Generals took the women’s team title with 33 points and Roanoke was second with 34.
