Hornet Softball Team Ranks Fifth in Division III Academically

NFCA Release

             STARKVILLE, MS – The Lynchburg College softball team ranked fifth overall in NCAA Division III as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its Top Ten All-Academic Teams for the 2006-07 season.

             Through this program, the NFCA honors high school and collegiate softball teams for their success in the classroom. Emerson College led NCAA Division III with a 3.548 GPA, and the Hornets posted a 3.465 GPA.

             The Hornets (36-13) enjoyed a fine season on the field in the spring, capturing the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament Regional Finals.

 “I am very proud of this team and their academic accomplishments,” said head coach Dawn Simmons.  “It all starts in the classroom, but it certainly showed on the field as well. The team’s dedication in the classroom and on the field is tremendous and definitely displays their work ethic and commitment.”
