LC Field Hockey Shuts Out Roanoke 6-0

             LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored a pair of goals Thursday evening as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated visiting Roanoke College 6-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

             Lynchburg got on the board six minutes into the game on a successful penalty stroke from Erin Majerowicz (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake). Caitlin Gibb (North East, MD/Rising Sun) scored an unassisted tally and Signey Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) also found the back of the net to give LC a 3-0 lead entering halftime. LC scored three times after intermission in just over three minutes – two from Weir and one from Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill).

             The Hornets outshot Roanoke 45-12 and held a 22-10 edge in penalty corners. Sarah Cates (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) made four saves to preserve the shutout for Lynchburg, and Lindsey Paz made 15 stops for Roanoke (3-9/2-4 ODAC).

             Lynchburg (13-4/4-1 ODAC) travels to Bridgewater College Saturday for another conference clash at 1 p.m.
