W&L Women Defeat Hornet Soccer 2-0

 LEXINGTON, VA – The Washington & Lee University women’s soccer team took advantage of an own goal by Lynchburg College Wednesday afternoon and held on to defeat the Hornets 2-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

             The Generals got on the scoreboard at 53:35 as a ball deflected off a Lynchburg defender and into the Hornet net. Anne Van Devender scored an unassisted goal with five minutes left to put the game out of reach.

             The Hornets out-shot their hosts 14-13 and held a 3-0 edge in corner kicks. Kiki Moreo made five saves for W&L (14-2/8-1 ODAC).

 

            The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Lynchburg (13-3-1/7-2 ODAC), as the Hornets travel Saturday to ODAC-frontrunner Virginia Wesleyan College for a match at 7 p.m.
