Hampden-Sydney Upends LC Men 2-0

HAMDPEN-SYDNEY, VA – The Hampden-Sydney College men’s soccer team defeated Lynchburg College 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. The loss breaks the Hornets’ four-match winning streak.
The game was a scoreless through intermission, but the Tigers got on the scoreboard through an LC own goal at 59:32. H-SC tacked on an insurance tally at 73:16 as Jason Butler fed Jason Powell.
Hampden-Sydney out-shot Lynchburg 14-12 and each team had five corner kicks. Marcus Jordan (Lynchburg, VA/Germantown) made five stops in net, while John Robert Plyler made three for the Tigers (9-5-2/5-1-1 ODAC).
The Hornets (9-5-1/3-3-1) travel to Emory & Henry College Saturday at 2 p.m. for another ODAC match-up.
