Disciples on Campus (DOC)

Disciples on Campus (DOC) meets weekly in the Spiritual Life Center during the academic year. Our motto is: Food, Fun and Fellowship! DOC is open to any interested students, faculty, or staff members - you don't have to be a Disciple to join! Lynchburg College has been connected with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination since it was founded in 1903. Many of our members participate in the Protestant Worship service on campus and some even help plan the services. When they are not attending services on campus, members of DOC find spiritual expression and worship in one of the six local congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lynchburg. We hope you'll come spend some time with DOC and share some food, fun and fellowship!

For more information about the DOC please contact Leigh Mackintosh 434/544-7941 or Tom '73 and Laurie Cassidy '02.

The Catholic Community

The Catholic Community of Lynchburg College (CCLC) provides a spiritual home for all those seeking a place to explore and deepen their relationship with God through prayer, service, and social activities. In addition to Sunday Mass and communion services, spiritual opportunities include weekly prayer groups, sacramental preparation, and retreats. Service activities include preparing meals for people who are homeless, developing our Haiti partnership, and increasing awareness of peace and justice issues. Social programs include our weekly simple supper on Sunday nights and road trips to the mountains. CCLC is open to students, faculty, staff, families, and any who find in us a community of spiritual welcome and hospitality.

For more information contact Kaky Bowden at 434/544-8689.

Jewish Student Organization

The Jewish Student Organization provides an opportunity for Jewish (and non-Jewish) students to spend time together, to come to know one another, and to meet and spend time with Jewish students at Randolph-Macon Woman's College and perhaps at Sweet Briar. This is not a religious organization, but rather a social one based on an affinity and interest in Jewish topics. We have meetings about every month, or more often. There is a link between our organization and Agudath Sholom synagogue. The rabbi there is highly helpful and encouraging to us in our plans and wishes for Judaic activities. The sponsor for the JSO is Dr. Robert White, professor of French and of music at Lynchburg College.

For information about the Jewish Student Organization, e-mail Dr. Joe Turek or call at 434/544-8542.

lynchburg christian fellowship [lcf]

[lcf] desires to see students from all walks of life, denominations, and convictions come together under the banner of Jesus for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and service to the community. While investing in the lives of each other we strive to invite others both on campus and abroad to join us as followers of Jesus. We believe that we are a part of a movement that dates back to the beginning of time and strive to keep our traditions and biblical values relevant and apply them within the context of our culture. We have weekly small groups that go through life together and help each other grow and change the world around them. No matter what walk of life you come from [lcf] strives to see students fall in love with Jesus.

To get involved contact Philip Watkins 434/544-8681.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity is an interdenominational and evangelical campus ministry that focuses on Christian discipleship, fellowship, and a concern for missions. At Lynchburg College our desire is two-fold: to provide a place for Christians to come together in order to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and each other, and to provide a place where students who are interested in finding out more bout God can do so at their own pace. To learn more about IVCF, please visit the national web site at www.intervarsity.org.

For more information about InterVarsity, please contact Brian Johnson at 544-8681 or Carol Hardin by e-mail or at 544-8321.

ReJOYce in Jesus Campus Fellowship

Welcome to ReJOYce in Jesus Campus Fellowship (RJCF) at Lynchburg College. Our primary purpose is to help students to get to know Jesus Christ in a more intimate way and to be better equipped for His use through biblical instruction, discipleship, and practical service. As a campus organization we are affiliated with ReJOYce in Jesus Ministries Inc., a nationwide campus ministry that is based in Los Angeles, California.

RJCF has incorporated the performing arts as an innovative tool to communicate the gospel. We utilize drama, contemporary dance, and song to help share the love of Jesus Christ to the students in a relatable way.

There are a number of opportunities for involvement in RJCF, including monthly small-group Bible studies, semester kick-offs, and many other events, including off-campus outings such as bowling, skating, picnics, and trips to a local ice cream parlor. We also do monthly community service.

If you are interested in joining us or coming to a function please contact Theodore and Kimberly McIvor.

Share in the hospitality of Quaker Meeting worship, Sundays at 10 a.m. in the living room of the Spiritual Life Center. The meeting is "unprogrammed" with silent worship.
