Box score

SWEET BRIAR, VA – The Lynchburg College field hockey triumphed against the Virginia Wesleyan College Marlins 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Virginia Wesleyan’s stout defense helped keep the Hornet offense out of the cage, but Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) was able to put the lone goal on the board at 18:45 in the first-half. LC outshot the Marlins 28-7, but Megan Koster turned back 13 shots to keep Virginia Wesleyan (3-9/2-3 ODAC) in the game.  Sarah Cates (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) recorded four saves for the Hornets, and LC also held an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.

Lynchburg (12-4/3-1 ODAC) hosts the Maroons of Roanoke College at 7 p.m. on Thursday in a pivotal ODAC match.
