Jenny Weir scores Twice as LC FH Defeats Frostburg 4-1

             LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Jenny Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored twice Saturday as the Lynchburg College field hockey team upended Frostburg State University 4-1 in non-conference action.

             Michelle Frost scored from Breanne Russell just 3:19 into the contest to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 edge. Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) tied the score at 16:50 from Katie Brennan (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) and Jenny Weir scored an unassisted goal 10 minutes later and the Hornets had a 2-1 edge at halftime. Jenny Weir and Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T Woodson) added second-half insurance goals.

             LC out-shot Frostburg 36-7 and held an 18-5 edge in penalty corners. Amanda Runion made 14 stops in the Bobcat net, while Sarah Cates (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) turned away three shots for the Hornets.

             Lynchburg (11-4) travels to Washington & lee University Tuesday night for an important Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
