Lynchburg Field Hockey Scores 7-0 Win over Sweet Briar

            LYNCHBURG, VA – Seven different players scored Friday evening as the Lynchburg College field hockey team rolled to a 7-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Sweet Briar College.

             Sophomore Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored at 7:44 in the first half from Erin Funkhouser (Natural Bridge, VA/Menchville), and Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson) followed two minutes later. Jenny Weir (Richmond, VA/James River), Funkhouser, Cassie Westman (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s), Katie Brennan (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) and Carter Maxey (Midlothian, VA/James River) also scored.

             Cat Cox made 11 saves for the Vixens (2-8/0-5 ODAC), while Sarah Cates (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) preserved the LC shutout with four stops.

             Lynchburg (10-4/2-1 ODAC) hosts Frostburg State University Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of the Homecoming festivities at the College.
