Betsy Kwiatkowski Scores Twice as LC Women Defeat Methodist 2-0

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA - Freshman forward Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) netted two goals in the final eight minutes Sunday to push the Lynchburg College women's soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference victory over Methodist University.

The contest was tied at zero for the entire first half and most of the second stanza until Kwiatkowski corralled a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net with 7:33 left on the game clock. She added an insurance goal with just over two minutes left, dodging several Monarch defenders before scoring her second unassisted goal of the game.

Lynchburg out shot its guests 27-6 and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, VA/Bishop Ireton) made three saves to preserve the shutout, while Methodist (7-2) keeper Kasey Nichols made eight stops.

The Hornets (8-2-1) travel to Emory & Henry College Tuesday at 4 p.m. for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest.
