LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College field hockey team fell 2-0 to the #7 Captains of Christopher Newport University in a non-conference match on Saturday.

Diana Golden struck early in the game with a goal in the sixth minute off a pass from Ashley Traylor. Ashley Cybulski would add an unassisted insurance goal in the 44th minute to give CNU a 2-0 margin of victory. Sophomore goalie Sarah Cates (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) recorded seven saves in the cage for the Hornets while Elexa Nosonchuk had four saves. CNU (8-1) outshot LC 20-9 and held a 12-2 edge in penalty corners.

Lynchburg (7-4) travels to Winchester, VA, Sunday to play the Hornets of Shenandoah University at 2 pm.
