Box Score

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Sophomore Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) scored the game's only goal early in the second half to give the Lynchburg College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Christopher Newport University Sunday afternoon.

The game was tied 0-0 at halftime, with the Lady Captains out-shooting LC 6-2 in the first 45 minutes. But Hoath corralled a loose ball in front of the net at the 53:15 mark and poked it in to un-tie the contest.

Hornet goalie Jackie Bader ( Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) made seven saves for Lynchburg, while Erin Wojtkun made six stops for Christopher Newport (3-2). For the game, LC held edges in total shots (14-9) and corner kicks (4-3).

Lynchburg (5-1-1) will host Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic conference game Saturday at 7 p.m. as a part of Parents and Family Weekend at the College.
