Lynchburg XC Teams Travel to NY Invite

RIVERDALE, NY - The Lynchburg College men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the New York University Invitational, held in Van Courtland Park.

The LC men's team finished ninth on the 8K course, finishing ahead of conference rivals Washington & Lee University and Bridgewater College. Sophomore Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) led the Hornets with a fifth-place finish in 26:15. Pat Jacobs ( Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) and Kevin Peggs (Richmond, VA/Monacan) took 54th and 55th place respectively, in 28:13 and 28:17. Rich Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) placed 78th in 28:39 and Brian Clapp (Smithfield, VA/Denbigh Baptist) finished 97th.

The Hornet women placed sixth in the 22-team field. Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) finished sixth in 19:39, Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) took 14th in 20:29 and Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) was 23rd in 20:46. Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) was 45th in 21:26 and Amanda Searing (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) finished 78th in 22:28.

The Hornets will compete Friday, September 28 at the Paul Short Invitational.
