Lynchburg Field Hockey Prevails Over Mary Washington 3-2

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Sophomore attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored the game-winning goal with just under four minutes left in regulation Wednesday to send the Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 3-2 win over the University of Mary Washington.

Senior attack Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) put Lynchburg up 1-0 in the six minute on an unassisted goal but Alison Weckstein tied the game at 1-1 just two minutes later. Lynchburg would strike again five minutes into the second half on an unassisted goal by Weir, but Mary Washington once again tied the game at 2-2 on a goal by Kalyn Perkins. Weir then gave the Hornets the lead for good off a pass from Carter Maxey (Midlothian, VA/James River).

Erin Arnwine recorded six saves for Mary Washington as LC outshot the Eagles 18-4 and held a 5-2 edge in penalty corners.

Lynchburg hits the road to Pennsylvania this weekend to battle #8 nationally ranked Lebanon Valley College on Saturday at noon and York College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
