LC Cross Country Opens Season at VMI

LEXINGTON, VA- The Lynchburg College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2007 season Saturday evening at the Virginia Military Institute.

Freshman Brian Clapp ( Smithfield, VA/Denbigh Baptist) paced the men's team in the 5K race with a 17th place finish in 17:30. James Young (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) placed 21st in 18:15 and Scott Dean (Sterling, VA/Park View) took 25th in 18:45.

Freshman Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) led the Hornet women, finishing the 4K course in 16:07 for seventh place. Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) took 10th in 16:31 and Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) was 13th in 16:56.

LC will compete in the Washington & Lee University Invitational next Saturday.
