Hornet Women's Soccer Defeats Haverford 1-0
Captures Haverford Kickoff Tournament Title

HAVERFORD, PA - Sophomore midfielder Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) scored with 4:10 remaining on the game clock to give the Lynchburg College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Haverford College Sunday. The win gave the Hornets the team trophy at the four-team Haverford Kickoff Tournament.

Lynchburg controlled much of the action on the afternoon, firing 20 shots to the Fords' five and also holding a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Haverford keeper Lindsay Festa kept her team in the game with 14 saves before Hoath dribbled from left to right across the top of the box, turned and struck the decisive goal.

Hornet goalie Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) made two stops as LC recorded a shutout.

Lynchburg (2-0) hosts the four-team Shellenberger Classic next Saturday and Sunday.
