Ashley Hoath Notches Two Goals as LC Women's Soccer Wins 3-1

HAVERFORD, PA - Sophomore midfielder Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) scored two first-half goals Saturday to lift the Lynchburg College women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Montclair State University (NJ) at the Haverford College Kickoff Tournament.

Hoath scored eight minutes into the contest off a rebound, and struck again at the 31-minute mark on a penalty kick. Senior Audrea Hamby (Lutherville, MD/Towson) capped the Hornet scoring early in the second half from Emily Sledd (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis).

Freshman Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) played 71 scoreless minutes in net for Lynchburg, and made five saves. Natalia Sisti prevented the shutout for Montclair State with a penalty kick with 6:46 remaining. LC held edges in shots (13-10) and in corner kicks (2-0).

The Hornets (1-0) will face Haverford Sunday at 1 p.m. in the tournament's title game.
