Volleyball Opens Season with Two Wins at Oglethorpe Invite

ATLANTA, GA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team opened its 2007 campaign Saturday with two wins at the Oglethorpe Invite - with two more matches to play on Sunday.

The Hornets defeated Agnes-Scott College (GA) in the first match 30-10, 30-13, 30-10. Katie Warlick (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) had five kills and 10 digs, while Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan), Amanda Walsh (Forest, VA/Heritage) and Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA/Fort Defiance) each had five kills. Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) posted 19 assists, Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) had nine digs and Ashley Martin (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) recorded nine service aces.

LC upended host Oglethorpe 31-29, 30-25, 30-12 in a late-afternoon match. Sandifer had 37 assists and six digs, Warlick compiled five kills and a team-best 13 digs while Walsh slammed a team-high 13 kills. Jones had eight kills and Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk) had seven kills.

Lynchburg is scheduled to play Sunday at 8 and 11 a.m.
