Celebrate the New Year in Rome, the Eternal City. You'll be on visual sensory overload as you experience first-hand some of the greatest art and architecture the world has ever produced. On this trip, students explore how cemeteries, palaces, and churches, and in fact, how a city can become a museum.

An unparalleled journey through French contemporary culture that includes visits to Mount St. Michel, the D-Day Beaches, the Loire Valley, and Paris. This journey begins in Geneva with a tour of the magnificent Castle of Chillon. After visiting la France profonde, participants spend three days in the capital. (Alternative spring break course requires spring semester registration in INTL 3770)

This linguistic exploration of Spain's culture and history includes extended time in Seville and Madrid with visits to Toledo and Granada. Students develop their language abilities by living with Spanish families while in Seville. Their time in the capital city of Andalusia includes special excursions in and around town that are integrally woven into the fabric of their coursework.

This unique interdisciplinary program introduces students to public relations as it is practiced in British museums and sporting venues. Students learn first-hand from guest lecturers how PR works in London and Scotland. Visits include the British National Museum, the Ashmolean Museum, Wembley Stadium, and historic St. Andrews.

Travel from London to Berlin while studying the literature of war and the processes that promote peace. Political science and literature combine to make this a truly unique experience. Students will visit such important sites as the Normandy Beaches, the Dachau concentration camp, WWI battlefields in Belgium, Berlin's Memorial to the German Resistance, and many other significant historical sites.

LC students will work collaboratively with Austrian students as they explore the business community in one of the most important economic regions of central Europe. Problem-solving is key as transnational teams confront the strategic issues inherent in globalization. Site visits may include company visits in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.

Education, international relations, and nursing students interact with the local culture by participating in an international service learning experience. Each activity is targeted to the student's major program. Students also have the opportunity to explore the island as they work jointly with St. Lucians during the service learning activity. As they explore the culture, students learn about the legacy of colonialism and address important issues in international development. This program includes a service learning experience and a $650.00 student stipend to support participation.

Costa Rica: Tropical Ecology

Students study ecology and environmental science at a field station in the Costa Rican rainforest. This travel/study course affords students the opportunity to explore the bio-diversity found in the lowlands and highlands of Costa Rica, one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world. Site visits include: the hot springs at Tobacon; Arenal, an active volcano; and the beach resort of Manuel Antonio.

Hannam University: Korean Studies Program

LC students will experience a new culture and way of life through travel and study at LC’s sister university in Daejeon, South Korea. Classes focus on Korean language and culture while students explore Buddhist temples and taste Korean cuisine with their Korean “buddies.” The program’s “buddy system” pairs LC students with Hannam students who introduce their international friends to Korean life and culture; this really enhances the student experience, fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship building. Activities include pottery-making, karaoke night, and a two-day excursion to Seoul, the South Korean capital.
Costs: International airfare to/from South Korea and personal expenses. Students enroll in a three credit course at Hannam University.
