Lynchburg College World Wide Web Policy (Draft)
The Lynchburg College website is an important marketing tool and means of communicating with the College’s internal and external constituents. Therefore, information posted on the website must be currently accurate and appropriate for its users. As the College’s online publication, the website must adhere to the College’s official publications policy and style. Oversight of the Lynchburg College website is the responsibility of the webmaster who determines requirements and guidelines for the website.Authority over Web Materials
On behalf of the College, the webmaster reserves the right to remove, for any reason, material from the web server owned by the College or web servers which use College-owned technology resources. Similarly, the College reserves the right to regulate and limit the use of web materials which use College resources including the network itself. Such limitations may include, but are not limited to, restrictions on resources such as disk space, material content, and location of information.Procedure for Establishing Web Pages on the Lynchburg College Website (only applies to the official College Website)
- Contact your department head for authorization to work on the pages. Have your department head send your name to the webmaster as a content editor.
- Complete training on the use of the College's web content management system.

Prohibited Web Materials
It is a violation of College policy to place any of the following on a College web server or on any web server on the College network:- Commercial advertisements/solicitations;
- Copyrighted materials without the written permission of the copyright owner;
- Lewd or pornographic materials;
- Other materials which are in violation of local, state, or federal laws or which are in violation of College policy.
Responsibility for Maintaining Web Pages
Campus entities which have web pages are responsible for reviewing and keeping them updated. The webmaster reserves the right to remove pages from the College’s website which contain outdated and/or inaccurate information.Alternate Website(s) Use for Professional Organizations
Use of College technical resources is recommended to support websites for professional organizations involving College faculty, staff, or students, subject to resource limitations. Inquiries should be directed to the associate vice president for Information Technology and Resources. Student organizations recognized by the Student Government Association may request a web presence through the SGA.
