Experience/Background:
Dr. Jeri Watts is originally from the Lynchburg area, growing up first on a farm in the Bedford area, then moving to the city itself.
Prior to joining the Lynchburg College faculty in 2006, Dr. Watts worked in the Lexington City Schools division for twenty-seven years. Among her roles were Title I teacher (Reading Specialist) and Coordinator and Instructional Support Teacher.
Degrees:
B.A. in Health and Physical Education, College of William and Mary
Master's in Reading, University of Virginia
Ed.D. in Elementary Education, University of Virginia
Professional Interests:
Dr. Watts' primary interest is in the reading/writing connection. Additionally, she has published a number of short stories in small literary journals and a picture book, Keepers, in 1997 with Lee and Low publishers in New York.
