Joe Turek, Ph.D.

Experience/Background

I received my Ph.D. in economics from the State University of New York in Albany (SUNY-Albany) in 1987. I have been teaching at Lynchburg College for seventeen years (1986-88 and 1990-present). I have also taught at SUNY-Albany, Illinois State University, Illinois Benedictine College, and Aurora University. I received the Shirley Rosser Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.

I served as director of the Walter G. Mason Center for Business and Economic Research from 1990 to 1995 and as director of the Westover Honors Program from 1995 to 1999. I am currently program coordinator for Economics and Finance.

My research interests include the following: the economics of terrorism, regional economic development policy, strategic planning, and educational finance. I have supervised more than twenty student research projects.
