Transfer Nursing Applicants
Program Mission and Goals:
The Nursing Program, approved by the Virginia State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing, leads to a bachelor of science degree and qualifies students who wish to become registered nurses to take the National Council Licensing Examination.
Competitive Transfer Applicants:
Applications must be submitted specifically for the nursing major. Transfer applicants interested in nursing are encouraged to apply early as the program is competitive and space is limited. The deadline is April 1.
Applicants must submit results from the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). Applicants must have a minimum total score of 60 percent and minimum sub-scores of 50 percent in each category. www.atitesting.com
Applicants must complete general chemistry with lab and receive a "C" or higher prior to the first semester in the program. Students should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and GPA of 3.0 or higher in the general nursing prerequisite courses.

Students will receive a letter notifying them if they have been accepted to Lynchburg College. This letter will also notify them if they have been accepted to begin and/or continue completing the nursing prerequisites. Students who are accepted to enter the program will have to maintain a competitive GPA and complete all the requirements to progress to the upper level of the nursing program.
Progression in the Major:
During the first two years of the program, students take General Education and prerequisite courses for the nursing major. Nursing prerequisites for the major include Math 222, Chemistry 127, Biology 222 (with lab), Biology 223 (with lab), Psychology 241, Health Promotion 270, Nursing 220, Nursing 225 (with lab), and Nursing 232 (with lab). Progression to the upper division major is competitive. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in the nursing pre-requisites and receive grades of "B-" or higher in the nursing courses and receive grades of "C" or higher in non-nursing courses to be considered for progression in the major
Application Deadlines:
Students must indicate nursing as their intended major. There is no separate application for the nursing major; however, your file will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and the director of the nursing program. Our nursing program enrolls in the fall semester. A personal statement is encouraged.
Fall Nursing Applicants: April 1
