Community Service

Lynchburg College believes that "giving back" to the community enhances the undergraduate experience and contributes to strong citizenship. All members of the LC community are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents to help others. Students whose conduct disrupts the community and/or violates policies are often required to make positive contributions to the community through service. While service work definitely helps others, it can also benefit you.

Service assigned as a disciplinary sanction is limited to opportunities identified through the SERVE Office. Service opportunities advertised by offices other than the SERVE Office or the Dean of Students Office may not be acceptable for a sanction requirement (e.g. hosting a prospective student).

If you attend your scheduled Service Planning Workshop AND submit your completed Service Plan by the deadline assigned in your letter from the Dean of Students Office AND complete the remainder of your service requirement by the originally assigned deadline, then you will receive five hours of credit toward your service sanction. If you are required to complete your service requirement in multiple increments, this opportunity to earn five hours of credit applies only to the first increment.

If you have any questions regarding your community service sanction, please contact the Sanction Advisor at 544.8629 or sanctionadvisor@lynchburg.edu.
