There are three SOAR sessions in June.
- Monday/Tuesday, June 23/24
- Thursday/Friday, June 26/27
- Monday/Tuesday, June 30/July 1
WAIT, READ THE FINE PRINT BELOW
Students are strongly encourage to attend one of these sessions. Your class schedule cannot be released until you attend SOAR. Students not attending SOAR in June are automatically registered for the August SOAR session, starting Wednesday, August 27, at 3 p.m. and continuing on Thursday, August 28.
Students should register for SOAR, complete the Schedule Preference Form and the Housing Preference Form, and download and complete the Health Form as soon as possible after sending in their deposit. All of these forms can be accessed through the Getting Started Checklist.
Bottom Line: June SOAR is FUN and INFORMATIVE! I know you are asking, how can something be fun and informative all at the same time? Trust me, it just is. At SOAR, you will
- Meet your Academic Advisor and Connection Leader
- Meet other students in your Connection Group and about a third of the students entering LC with you
- Review your class schedule with your advisor and make changes to your schedule if needed
- Spend the night in the residence halls
- Play in the sand volleyball tournament (the winning team from each SOAR session gets a pizza party during the fall semester)
- Eat Snow Cones (they are gooooood!)
- And do lots of other things far too numerous to mention.
Parents and guests are encouraged to attend SOAR, as there is programming especially for them. They will meet college officials, learn about campus services, and understand more about the Lynchburg College community. Parents will also find their interactions with Connection Leaders most helpful in understanding how best to help their students be successful at LC. "Unfortunately" parents cannot stay on campus. A list of local accommodations can be found at the link below.
