Coordinator/Assistant Professor - English as a Second Language
The Center for Global Education at Lynchburg College invites applications for a full-time, Coordinator and Assistant Professor of English as a Second Language (ESL) position to begin during the 2013-14 academic year.
This is a unique opportunity to develop and coordinate an ESL instructional program for undergraduate and graduate level non-native English speaking students. This hiring is part of a strategic initiative of the College to increase internationalization of the student body. The ESL Coordinator collaborates and maintains direct and collegial relationships with staff and faculty across the campus. The ESL Coordinator is responsible for providing academic leadership, management and a quality curriculum for the English as a Second Language Program. The ESL Coordinator provides and oversees language instruction and academic support, pre-and post-assessment of proficiency, as well as assists with academic and cultural acclimation of international students.
Required qualifications: Master’s degree in applied linguistics or related field is required; Master’s in TESOL and TESL certification desired. Doctorate degree preferred. Selected candidate must pass a background check that is satisfactory to the College.
