Second Degree (B.A./ B.S.) Accelerated Nursing Applicants

*New for Summer 2013*

Program Mission and Goals

The Nursing Program - approved by the Virginia State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing - leads to a bachelor of science and qualifies students who wish to become registered nurses to take the National Council Licensing Examination.

Accelerated Nursing Application Requirements

The accelerated nursing program is a second degree; you must already have completed a bachelor's degree. You will be considered for the accelerated program only, and you must have completed all of the nursing pre-requisite courses prior to beginning the accelerated program. You should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and GPA of 3.0 or higher in the general nursing prerequisite courses.

Submit your application and indicate on the application that you are applying to the nursing major. Please apply early, as the program is competitive and space is limited.

You must also submit results from the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). You must have a minimum total score of 60 percent, with minimum sub-scores of 50 percent in each category. www.atitesting.com

Application Deadlines

You must indicate nursing as your intended major. There is no separate application for the nursing major; however, your file will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and the director of the nursing program. You may only apply for summer admission. A personal statement is encouraged.

Accelerated Nursing Application Deadline: April 1

Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis.
