The study of business and economics at Lynchburg College is firmly grounded in the liberal arts. All students at the College take a strong core of courses in the humanities and sciences that prepare them for the challenges of the rapidly changing business environment.

In addition to the strong liberal arts core, all business majors take the same core of courses in the functional areas of business including accounting, economics, marketing, management, and quantitative methods. A unique feature of our curriculum is that all business majors take a senior level course, "Integrated Applications of Business Principles," in which students work in teams to develop a business plan and make a presentation to a team of evaluators that includes representatives from the business community.
As a student in the School of Business and Economics, you will have a full-time faculty member serve as your academic mentor assisting you in planning your degree program. Your classes will be small and taught by full-time faculty members. We are proud of our faculty's achievements in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Our faculty is also quite active professionally in their significant research agendas that contribute to the knowledge that they bring to the classroom, serving as editors or on editorial boards of journals, holding leadership roles in professional associations, or providing consulting services.
Lynchburg College has made a significant commitment to collaborative faculty/student research projects and our business and economics faculty regularly conduct undergraduate research projects with students. These collaborative efforts have in some cases resulted in presentations of the research findings at professional conferences - a rare opportunity for undergraduate students. We also pride ourselves on our commitment to experiential learning such as internships with for-profit and non-profit organizations. Over 70 percent of the majors in business and economics complete at least one internship during their undergraduate careers.
