Our Mission

The Office of Residence Life is committed to furthering the mission of Lynchburg College by developing safe and secure residential communities that foster the development of learning and growth.

In pursuit of this mission, we:

• Sponsor a variety of programs which provide opportunities for residents to expand their development in the areas of spiritual, social, cultural, intellectual, emotional, and sexual dimensions of the Wellness Wheel model.
• Consistently confront policy infractions in a compassionate manner.
• Respect and treat all residents in a fair and consistent manner.
• Encourage residents to take responsibility for and an active leadership role in their respective residential communities.
• Provide paraprofessional staff members with meaningful experiences which contribute to their personal and professional development.
• Recognize and celebrate the individual characteristics of each member of the campus community.
• Through programming, encourage and promote a greater tolerance and appreciation of diversity.
• Educate the staff and residents to know and utilize campus offices and resources.
• Create an environment that is conducive to academic excellence.
