Psychology Major and Minor
Studies in the liberal arts provide the context in which psychology programs are conducted. The following are guiding principles for programs in psychology:
- To provide the student with a well-rounded foundation based upon a theoretical and conceptual understanding of psychology as a science;
- To introduce the student to the various research methodologies and techniques used within the discipline to gain an understanding of behavior;
- To prepare the student for further graduate study in psychology and related disciplines;
- To prepare the student for careers in psychology and related areas.

Psychology is the science of behavior and the mental and physical processes which underlie such behavior. As a science, psychology seeks to understand and improve life through research and the practical application of research findings. Psychology offers a vast store of information about issues that concern everyone. Because of this, psychology's practicality has developed from philosophical speculations about the mind into a modern behavioral science.
A major in the field is comprehensive in that it provides exposure to all the various subfields in psychology such as experimental, abnormal, educational, physiological, and cognitive.
