Anne Nash,Director of Publications Anne graduated from Lynchburg College with a degree in political science and worked as a public assistance social worker, psychiatric social worker, and an assistant economic analyst before settling down to raise her two daughters in Little Rock, Arkansas, her adopted state. In 1979 she joined the University of Arkansas System as a writer and has been in higher education publications or development work ever since (with the exception of a four-year stint at the Old State House Museum, where Al Gore used her office to wait for the 1992 election dog-and-pony victory show). In 2006 she was recognized by the Central Virginia Mental Health Association as volunteer of the year for her work as a co-facilitator for the Suicide Survivors Group for persons who have lost a loved one to suicide. She is passionate about three things: her two daughters, her grandchildren, and sailing, which she learned as a competitor in the sport, spending nearly half her time capsized in the water during the first year of competition. She now owns Layla, a non-capsizing bigger sailboat, which lives at Smith Mountain Lake. 434/544-8538 • nash@lynchburg.edu |

Katharine Stevens, Graphic Designer Through a fortuitous series of events, Katharine landed back in higher ed as a designer for LC. A native of Altavista, Virginia, she graduated summa cum laude from Radford University in 1999 with a B.F.A. with a concentration in graphic design. At the ripe old age of 22, she was awarded Best in Show from the Roanoke Valley Advertising Federation for her design of the Macbeth theatre poster, done while she was a student worker in Radford’s Creative Services office. Since joining the LC staff in 2000, Katharine has earned somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) and ADDY (American Advertising Federation) awards. She likes to keep them on a dusty shelf, which boggles the minds of her coworkers. A typographic nerd, Katharine’s other design passions include the work of Saul Bass, anything letterpress or silkscreened, and the challenge of a two-color job. One of her other passions in life is amassing a truly ridiculous amount of trivia and factoids. (Fact: The most misused SSN of all time is 078-05-1120. Google it.) And if she were to hit the Mega Millions, she’d take a leave of absence (come on, I can’t really say I’d quit on my employer’s website – ks) to ride roller coasters and redesign — for free — all the horrible menus she comes across on an all-too-frequent basis. 434/544-8626 • stevens@lynchburg.edu |
