Kenneth Garren

Dr. Kenneth R. Garren is in his 11th year as president of Lynchburg College, beginning his tenure in 2001 as the College's 10th president.

During his tenure, Lynchburg College's enrollment has grown at an impressive rate: 32% at the undergraduate level and 169% in graduate programs.

Lynchburg College's liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs promote critical thinking skills, self-confidence, a diverse view of society, and respect for others. Our curriculum embraces experiential learning through internships, service to community, study abroad, and leadership opportunities in more than 100 clubs and organizations.

President Garren earned his B.S. in mathematics from Roanoke College, his M.S. in mathematics from The College of William and Mary, and his Ph.D. in mathematics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).

Prior to his academic career, he served in the Army National Guard and worked in the U.S. space program as an aerospace engineer. His 45 years of higher education experience include serving as a vice president, chief academic officer, and mathematics professor.
