Degrees and Certifications

Professional Interests/Research
My professional interests are related to policy issues in the fields of intellectual disabilities and learning disabilities and curriculum and methodological issues relative to special education in general. I have served on the Committee on Terminology and Classification for the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and thus I have a good deal of interest in definitional issues in that field. My research in terms of school issues has included attention to academic instruction in general and to the areas of homework, grading, and testing.

I also teach two classes, Academic Instruction for Students with Learning and Behavior Problems (SPED 644), and Characteristics of Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (SPED 605).
