President Kenneth GarrenDr. Kenneth R. Garren is in his 14th year as president of Lynchburg College, beginning his tenure in 2001 as the College's 10th president.

During his tenure, Lynchburg College's enrollment has grown at an impressive rate: 32% at the undergraduate level and 169% in graduate programs.

Lynchburg College's liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs promote critical thinking skills, self-confidence, a diverse view of society, and respect for others.

President Garren earned his B.S. in mathematics from Roanoke College, his MS in mathematics from The College of William and Mary, and his PhD in mathematics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).

Initially he was employed as an aerospace engineer at the NASA Langley Research Center where he worked on the Gemini and Apollo space programs. Subsequently he has served for 34 years in higher education as a mathematics professor, vice president, and chief academic officer prior to becoming president of Lynchburg College. In addition, he served in the Army National Guard and the US Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Colonel, Infantry, US Army Reserve.
