Experience/Background
Dr. Nielsen joined the Lynchburg College faculty in 1994. Dr. Nielsen came to Virginia with numerous counseling experiences in Colorado, California, and Arizona where he held positions in psychotherapy, administration, teaching, counselor supervision, and training.
Dr. Nielsen brings twenty years of clinical experience to Lynchburg College. Over the years, he has counseled clients in a university counseling center, drug and alcohol treatment programs, residential and psychiatric treatment programs for adolescents, private practice, and community mental health centers. He also produced drug awareness and counseling training programs that have been implemented by the Omaha Police Department, Boystown of America, Arizona's Indian reservations, and the U.S. Air Force.
