The News & Advance previewed the University of Lynchburg Choral Union concert “Songs of the Civil War.” Dr. Jong Kim, LC music professor and conductor, and Dawn Fields Wise, the local playwright who scripted dramatic monologues to be interspersed throughout the concerts, explained how they hope to bring Civil War history to life through music and the spoken word.
“Songs of the Civil War” will be performed twice this weekend. On Saturday, April 18, the concert will be held in Lynchburg’s historic Old City Cemetery at 4 p.m. On Sunday, it will be presented in the Appomattox High School auditorium at 4 p.m. Tickets are free, but must be reserved by calling (434) 544-8344.
