President Garren announced the new Office of Equity and Inclusion in an email to students, faculty, and staff on Monday, December 19.
“This Office will strive to ensure that the institution’s commitment to diversity is clearly apparent through a campus climate where all students, faculty, and staff feel welcomed and are treated with respect,” Dr. Garren said in his announcement.
The Office of Equity and Inclusion will be located in the Flynn Multicultural Center, Drysdale Student Center, and will include the collaboration of the following individuals:
- Aaron Smith, Diversity and Inclusion Officer
- Amanda McGovern, Title IX Coordinator
- Annette Stadtherr, Director of Multicultural Services
- Dr. Sabita Manian, President’s Equity and Inclusion Fellow
The office’s work will also include other support staff members, graduate assistants, and student workers who are currently working in each of those areas. “The Office of Equity and Inclusion will serve as a hub for inclusivity, outreach, programming, training and development for all campus members,” Dr. Garren said.
