Evelyn “Evy” Keeney-Ritchie ’16 is one of 50 students nationwide awarded a $1,000 Study Abroad Grant from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
A junior from Atlanta, Ga., Evy is majoring in biomedical science and minoring in Spanish. She will use the grant to study abroad in Granada, Spain this fall. Evy is a member of both the Westover Honors and Bonner Leader programs.
“I’ve been planning a study abroad trip into my four-year plan since my first year,” Evy said. “I’ll be taking classes at the University of Grenada, which will help me out with my Spanish minor, as well as my fluency. I will be living with a host family and hopefully doing quite a bit of traveling.”
Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to support undergraduates, both members and nonmembers, as they seek expanded knowledge and experience in their academic fields. Since the program’’s inception in 2001, the Society has awarded more than $600,000 in Study Abroad Grants.
