Dr. Theogene Rudasingwa, former Rwandan ambassador to the US, will speak on genocide and reconciliation in Rwanda on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Hopwood Auditorium. The talk is sponsored by the Holocaust Foundation of Central Virginia and University of Lynchburg.
Dr. Rudasingwa is author of Healing a Nation: A Testimony and a leading figure in the Rwanda National Congress, an opposition party in exile.
He was chief of staff to Rwandan President Paul Kagame (2000-2004), former general secretary of the Rwandan ruling party, the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), and ambassador to the US from 1996 to 1999. He has been in exile in the US since 2004. He was born outside of Rwanda and has lived most of his life outside the country.
Dr. Rudasingwa gave evidence in 2013 in Spain relating to charges of genocide and war crimes by Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA) and RPF figures in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 1994 and 2000.
