LC students won four awards at the National Model United Nations 2014 in New York City March 30-April 3: two Outstanding Position Paper Awards, one Outstanding Delegates in Committee Award for the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Committee, and an Honorable Mention Award for the entire LC Delegation representing the Republic of the Philippines.
“I am terribly proud of my students,” said Dr. Sabita Manian, professor of international relations. “Every one of them did a terrific job both in their position papers (written assignment) as well as in their various speeches and caucusing during the simulations — displaying their leadership skills and preparedness.”
This UN simulation, organized by the National Model United Nations organization, includes nearly 5,000 students from colleges and universities around the world and about 2,500 studentsin the session LC attended. The students have spent the semester preparing to represent the Philippines, as delegates, in the UN simulations. The delegation also attended a Briefing Session with the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the UN on March 31.
