LC students, staff, and faculty are continuing to take advantage of free rides year-round on the Greater Lynchburg Transit Co. (GLTC) buses with a valid ID.
The College started offering free rides to the LC community during the academic year in fall 2010 to help reduce its carbon footprint.
LC ridership remained strong for the period between August 1, 2012 and July 30, 2013 with a total of 13,991 rides. The 2012-13 academic year was the first to include free summer rides.
The 2011-12 academic year had a total of 13,521 boardings with 10,616 for 2010-11, according to GLTC data.
The College has installed bus stops at its Lakeside Drive entrance and in front of the Health Sciences Building, also on Lakeside Drive.
Dr. David Perault, professor of environmental science, has created a web page to help demystify the bus schedule.
